The Street Triple 675 is a motorcycle that has been built by the British brand Triumph since 2007 . A fundamental revision was made for the 2017 model year, in particular an increase in the engine displacement to 765 cm³ with different power levels. At the same time, a variant with 660 cm³ was introduced, which is intended for the A2 driving license class available in Germany.

technology

The vehicle is based on the Daytona 675 super sports machine and was presented at Tridays in Newchurch ( Neukirchen am Großvenediger ) in June 2007 . Compared to the Triumph Daytona 675, the engine was tuned to lower peak performance with improved torque curve. This was achieved by means of tamer camshafts , cast pistons instead of forged pistons , a reduced maximum speed , a modified exhaust system and a different map of the intake manifold injection . Many elements of the chassis were also adopted directly or modified from the Daytona.

design

Street Triple in Fusion White (YOC 2007)

The design of the Street Triple is based on that of the Triumph Speed Triple , which is why it is also called a scaled-down version of the Speed Triple, although technically it corresponds more to an uncovered version of the Daytona. The manufacturer describes this with the slogan "Genetic engineering - made by Triumph".

Press

The Street Triple was rated as one of the best mid-range vehicles in the trade press in several comparative tests. A lack of ABS option was criticized in each case (note: the ABS option has only been available since 2013), a slightly underdamped rear shock absorber, which is particularly noticeable in pillion riding, and springs in the front fork that are a little too weak. The German magazine Motorrad gave the Triumph Street Triple the price / performance rating of 1.2 as the first vehicle.

Model updates

Street Triple R

In 2008, Triumph introduced a higher quality version of the Street Triple on the Isle of Man . In contrast to the basic model, the Street Triple R offers, among other things, a radially screwed front brake, a fully adjustable chassis, a 0.5 cm higher and newly quilted seat and a butted Magura aluminum handlebar. She also has a steep fork. It has been available in stores since October 2008.

Street Triple R 2010

In mid-2009, subtle changes to newly delivered machines were initially noticed. In July 2009, Triumph mentioned the Street Triple R 2010 as an official model update on the UK page.

The following changes compared to the 2009 model are known: - Black chainring - New instrument unit - Changed standard tires (Bridgestone BT016) - Extended swing arm

Street Triple 2012 and Street Triple R 2012

In 2011, Triumph changed the optical details of both models in a further model update. The most obvious change is the change of the headlight unit, from the originally round double headlight, to a more aggressive looking, rectangular model. The normal Street Triple now comes with the butted handlebars of the Street Triple R. Furthermore, details on various parts have been revised. Including the handlebar ends, footrests, clutch cover, exhaust mufflers and plastic covers on the frame in the area of the steering head.

Street Triple / Triple R from 2013

Street Triple R with Bodis exhaust (2013)

For the 2013 vintage, the Triple was completely revised. The frame has been redesigned, the rear frame is die-cast and the 3-in-2 exhaust system previously installed on the side of the seat has given way to a 3-in-1 system with a short, low-level muffler. The swing arm has also been redesigned. A switchable ABS was initially available as an option and has been standard equipment since 2014. Length and width increased minimally, the weight decreased by 7 kg. The performance data of the engine remained the same, but the maximum values are reached at slightly higher speeds. The radiator trim has been visually revised and contrasted in color.

The rear frame and radiator cowling of the Triple R were painted red and the rims were provided with red rim tape. The modifications to the standard version known from previous years have also been adopted for the new model. Since around the middle of 2014, the color of the previously golden brake calipers of the R version has also changed to black.

Street Triple Rx from 2015

In addition to the standard version and the Street Triple R, the Street Triple Rx has been offered as a further model variant since 2015. Technically, the motorcycle corresponds to the Street Triple R and differs in its standard equipment and visual accents. The most striking feature is the modified rear profile including seat cover, which comes from the current version of the sister model, the Triumph Daytona 675 R. A front spoiler (a cover between the manifold and exhaust on the underside of the front area of the motorcycle) and a flyscreen (small cockpit covering above the headlight unit) are also installed as standard. The rims are painted in a striking red, as is the rear frame and the radiator cowling. The other trim parts are painted in the color "aluminum silver". Another difference is a standard built-in quickshifter ( automatic gearshift ), which allows you to change to the next higher gear without using the clutch.

Street Triple 765 from 2017

In 2017, a revised version of the Street Triple was introduced. As of this year there are four different versions of the Street Triple:

- Street Triple S A2 (660 cm³, 48 PS (95 PS), 60 Nm)

- Street Triple S (765 cm³, 113 PS, 73 Nm)

- Street Triple R / R LRH (765 cm³, 118 PS, 77 Nm) (LRH for low seat height for smaller drivers)

- Street Triple RS (765 cm³, 123 PS, 77 Nm)

All models have ABS, traction control and various driving modes as standard. at Street Triple S - Road and Rain. On the Street Triple R - Road, Rain, Sport and Rider. With the Street Triple RS - Road, Rain, Sport, Rider and Track. In Rider mode, ABS and traction control can be configured in terms of response. In addition, the R and RS models have a color display, while the S model only has an LCD display.

There are also differences in the chassis. While the Street Triple RS has a fully adjustable suspension (Öhlins shock absorber, Showa fork), the Street Triple S only has a non-adjustable Showa upside-down fork and a preload adjustable shock absorber. The Street Triple R has a fully adjustable Showa SFF fork (Separate Function Fork) and a rebound and compression adjustable shock absorber. The R and RS models are also equipped with Brembo brakes as standard.
