In 1997 the second generation of the Speed Triple, the T509, appeared. At the same time, the old model with the 750 engine from the Trident and Daytona was offered as the Speed Triple 750 (T300C) in a limited number of 90 for the German and 110 for the British market. By increasing the displacement to 955 cm³, revising the injection system and making changes to the exhaust system , the performance of the Speed Triple in 1999 initially rose to 108 hp.

Its engine, now manufactured using the die-casting process, had a regulated catalytic converter and 120 hp, a digital speedometer was installed for the first time, and in addition to other optical retouches, the headlights moved closer to the cockpit .

Since the model change in 2005, the engine of the Speed Triple has been 1050 cm³. From the end of 2007, Triumph used a faster control unit and installed Brembo brakes as standard on the Speed Triple. The 2010 model year received a change in the tuning of the spring and fork.

In December 2010 a facelift of the motorcycle took place. Since then, the Speed Triple has had modern headlights, and the engine, transmission and chassis have also been heavily revised in some cases.
