Triumph Speed Triple
The Speed Triple is a motorcycle from the English manufacturer Triumph . The naked bike became one of the first mass- produced Streetfighter models in the mid-1990s .
history
The first Speed Triple appeared in 1994. Its name was based on the Speed Twin from 1938, technically it was based on the Daytona 900, but had no front and side panels and instead of the double a single, round headlight . It shared its 885 cc three-cylinder carburettor engine with models such as Trident, Thunderbird and Daytona. Just one year after its launch , in 1995, it provided her with a six-speed gearbox from.
In 1997 the second generation of the Speed Triple, the T509, appeared. At the same time, the old model with the 750 engine from the Trident and Daytona was offered as the Speed Triple 750 (T300C) in a limited number of 90 for the German and 110 for the British market. The engine of the T509 was a few more horsepower thanks to Sagem injection , had an aluminum bridge frame and a high-quality, fully adjustable chassis with single-sided swing arm . The T509 was the first Speed Triple with the characteristic second front headlamp that characterizes the model to this day. By increasing the displacement to 955 cm³, revising the injection system and making changes to the exhaust system , the performance of the Speed Triple in 1999 initially rose to 108 hp.
The third Speed Triple generation came on the market in 2002. Its engine, now manufactured using the die-casting process, had a regulated catalytic converter and 120 hp, a digital speedometer was installed for the first time, and in addition to other optical retouches, the headlights moved closer to the cockpit .
Since the model change in 2005, the engine of the Speed Triple has been 1050 cm³. From the end of 2007, Triumph used a faster control unit and installed Brembo brakes as standard on the Speed Triple. The 2010 model year received a change in the tuning of the spring and fork.
In December 2010 a facelift of the motorcycle took place. Since then, the Speed Triple has had modern headlights, and the engine, transmission and chassis have also been heavily revised in some cases.
In November 2015 a new variant of the Speed Triple 1050 cm³ was presented. The innovations include an electronic throttle valve control ( ride-by-wire ), standard ABS and variable driving modes (rain, road, sport, racing and an individually programmable mode) for the Speed Triple S and Speed Triple R models the Speed Triple R version includes a fully adjustable Öhlins chassis, quickshifter and carbon fiber cladding.
