The Troy University is a state university in Troy in the US state of Alabama . There are currently 6,177 students enrolled on the main campus. The campus consists of 36 buildings on 1.9 km² as well as the adjacent Troy University Arboretum , an arboretum with an area of approximately 30 hectares . The Troy University System consists of a total of 60 campuses in 17 US states and 11 other countries. The system also includes three other universities in the state of Alabama, in Dothan , Montgomery and Phenix City .
history
Troy University was founded in 1887 as the Troy Normal School with the mission to train and train teachers. Since then, Troy has grown into a comprehensive university.
Sports
The US sports teams are the Trojans . The university is a member of the Sun Belt Conference .
