from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Troop training areas in the army of the German Reich ( Kingdom of Prussia , the contingents of the other countries affiliated with a military convention) and the Kingdom of Bavaria were used to hold drill exercises and war-like shooting exercises for the infantry at regimental and brigade level . Field artillery and cavalry also used the military training areas for their purposes. The foot artillery only occupied the shooting ranges in Wahn , Thorn and Lechfeld camp .

Arys Training Area

Administration, maintenance, provision of ammunition and target material was the task of the respective military training area command. The respective general commands or, in the case of foot artillery, the general inspection carried out the supervision.

Existing barracks made of stone, half-timbering, corrugated iron or tents were used to accommodate officers, NCOs, men and horses. Observation towers, safety stands and exercise works are set up on the shooting ranges for exercise purposes.
