The Czech national basketball team for women represents the Czech Republic at international games. It was established in 1993 after the separation of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic , making it one of the successors to the Czechoslovak women's selection . Two years later, the selection took part in a final round of the European basketball championships for the first time and has been a permanent participant in the European finals ever since. At the EM 2005 , the selection won the title for the first time and became European champion after having won the silver medal as vice European champion at the 2003 EM finals two years earlier . With three participations in each of the Olympic Games and three world championships (up to and including 2014) , the selection won a silver medal as runner-up at the 2010 World Cup. At the Olympic Games, when they first took part in the 2004 Olympic Games, they achieved fifth place, their best ranking so far.
