The Tulleck'sche Hammerwerk is a historic hammer forge in Wildalpen in the Salzatal , Upper Styria. Today it houses the local history and parish museum and the HochQuellenWasser water pipe museum .

history

The hammer mill was built in the early 16th century. On June 30, 1625, Emperor Ferdinand II granted the trades Hans Friedrich Mayer from Eisenerz and Hans Paul Payer from Weikersdorf the privilege of operating a mine near Eisenerz and a smelting furnace and hammer on the Seisenbach (Säusenbach) in the Wildalpen . From there it is only 15 kilometers as the crow flies over the Eisenerzer Höhe to the Erzberg , and the hammer gentlemen were not allowed to disturb the interests of the Innerberg main trade union and had to look for a new place to generate energy. Because large quantities of charcoal could be produced cheaply in the Salzatal, which at that time was still unforested, it was even worth transporting ore via the mule track . It is named after the Tulleck , one of the peaks near Eisenerz (directly west of the Erzberg), on which Mayer and Payer dug.

The manor house of the hammer mill, called Hammerherrenhaus or Trades House, was built in the middle of the 17th century.

In the early 19th century the plant had 5  hammers with 4  pulling and 3  distance lights .

In 1837 the hammer mill was closed, the delivery of ore and the removal of the goods by rafts or carts became unprofitable, as was the operation with wood instead of hard coal.

In 1979 the city of Vienna acquired the house to set up a museum and made part of it available to the Wildalpen community ( Association of Friends of the Wildalpen Museum ).

Structural matters

In addition to the manor house , the Kanzleistöckl , the driver's yard and the Wagnerhaus (Kohlfachterhaus) belong to the ensemble.

The three-storey main house with a transverse wing from the 17th century has a crooked roof and a small, neat balcony veranda in the local style of the 2nd half of the 19th century. The two-storey detached house next door, the Kanzleistöckl (office building), has a hipped roof and dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. Century. The Wagnerhaus is in the valley, the driver's yard out of the valley.

Inside the manor house there are barrel vaults and two wooden ceilings with richly carved central trams and stucco .

Todays use

In addition to the local museums, the house has seminar, archive, depot and library rooms, as well as a museum cinema (65 seats). Special exhibition rooms are in the outbuildings.
