Turlock is an American city ​​in Stanislaus County in the US state of California with 68,549 inhabitants (2010).

history

Turlock was founded by John William Mitchell, a grain farmer, in 1871 when the Central Pacific Railroad was being built. It got its name after the karst lakes , the Turloughs , that arise in the west of Ireland each winter .

The city is the seat of California State University, Stanislaus .
