The U-17 Women's Africa Cup (until 2015 U-17 Women's Africa Championship ), officially Africa U17 Women's Cup of Nations (until 2015 African U17 Women's Championship ), is a soccer tournament between the best teams in Africa for female soccer players 17 years, which serves exclusively to qualify for the U-17 World Cup for women and has so far been played according to different modes.
In 2008, the tournament was played in two knockout rounds and a final league round with six teams in the two legs to determine the two starters for the U-17 World Cup. Since then, it has taken place every two years. The 2010 competition was played in the knockout system with first and second legs up to the semi-finals, with no finals being held. A play-off of the semi-final losers took place for the third World Cup starting place, which Africa is entitled to from the 2010 World Cup. In 2012, three rounds were played in a pure knockout system, with the three winners of the last round qualifying for the U-17 Women's World Cup.
The competition has been officially called the Africa U17 Women's Cup of Nations since 2015 .
