U-21 African Championship 2001 / qualification

The qualification for the U-21 African Cup of Nations 2001 was held to determine the seven finalists alongside hosts Ethiopia . The games took place between May 12th and November 5th, 2000.

The registered teams determined the seven final round participants in three qualifying rounds in the knockout system with home and return legs. In the event of a tie, the away goal rule decided on progress. If there was also a tie, a penalty shoot- out was carried out without extra time .

Preliminary round

The first legs were played between May 12 and 14, the second legs between May 26 and 28, 2000.
