Birkenstrasse underground station
The birkenstraße is opened on Aug. 28, 1961 Station of the Berlin U-Bahn - Line U9 . It is 530 meters from Berlin Westhafen train station and 675 meters from Turmstraße underground station . The station is located underground in the district Moabit of the Mitte district and contributes in station list of the BVG the abbreviation Bi .
The station has a central platform with stairs in the middle, which lead into an access hall, which is kept in the colors light brown and dark gray. Two flights of stairs lead from the entrance hall to the surface. The design of the platform space is essentially based on a light green color that can be found on the walls as well as on the hexagonal central supports. The floor and the butterfly ceiling typical of the original G Line are gray in color.
The renovation of the western entrance was completed in 2017, with a portal-like writing field with the station name above the staircase. Work on the eastern access is still ongoing. It is planned to build another exit with stairs and elevator at the northern end of the platform by the end of 2020.
The train station is not barrier-free .
Connection
At the underground station there is no possibility to change to other local public transport lines in Berlin .
