The Feldstraße underground station is a stop on the U3 line of the Hamburg subway in the St. Pauli district .

The stop was opened on May 25, 1912 as part of the ring line . In 1926 the platform was lengthened to its current size of around 90 meters, which made it possible to use 6-car trains. In 1954 the facility received a new access building designed by Hans Loop. It had become necessary because the old exit was right on Feldstrasse and was much too narrow, especially when the cathedral was located on the neighboring Heiligengeistfeld , especially since this subway station was an important transfer point to the tram. For this reason, today's entrance hall is set back and has a spacious forecourt lined with shops. The subway station is located on the edge of the Heiligengeistfeld in the tunnel at a simple depth and at right angles to the Feldstrasse that gives it its name. Two staircases, which touch down roughly in the middle of the platform, converge on each other and lead into the spacious access building. In 1996 the stop was cosmetically revised and given new wall tiles. The last renovation took place in 2007, when the entrance hall was somewhat “cleared out”. The white-tiled tower with the free-standing blue “U” on the top, standing directly on Feldstrasse, is striking.

At normal times, around 18,800 passengers use the bus stop per day (2017, Mon-Fri), but there are many more during the cathedral and at FC St. Pauli football matches . In 2014 it was made barrier-free by raising the platform , setting up a guidance system and installing an elevator .

The internal station abbreviation is "FE". The distance to the neighboring station Sternschanze is about 900 meters, to the St. Pauli underground station it is almost 700 meters.

Connection

At the Feldstraße underground station there is a transition to the Metrobus routes 3 and 17 and the express bus X3. There were trams here until June 1975. Most recently, this was line 11 on its way from Bahrenfeld, Trabrennbahn through Stresemannstraße on via Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße and Rödingsmarkt to Hauptbahnhof / ZOB. Lines 11, 12 and 13 (11: Bahrenfeld - Harburg, Sand; Line 12: Volkspark (Stadionstrasse) - Rothenburgsort; Line 13: Langenfelde - Rönneburg) stopped here until 1959.
