The Habichtstraße is a station of the Hamburg subway - U3 in the district of Barmbek-Nord . The station abbreviation of the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn is "HA".
history
The underground station was built as early as 1912 as part of the Walddörferbahn in the then undeveloped area - which, contrary to the original layout, was completely redesigned by Fritz Schumacher . The construction of the station was completed as early as 1916, but was not opened until 14 years later, on June 23, 1930, after the area was settled in the 1920s according to Schumacher's plans with block perimeter development in the middle of green areas. In the meantime, the trains passed without stopping. This was the case again after the war, when, in view of the almost complete destruction in the surrounding Barmbek-Nord, the trains mostly ran through without stopping until 1948.
Since the introduction of the three-line system in 1963, Habichtstraße was a station on the U2 line . In 2009 this changed after the line swap, now the U3 runs here.
investment
The station is located on the embankment and has an approximately 130 meter long platform. Its only exit is on the western side. In 1973 the old access building on the platform was torn down, the platform was extended and an escalator was added. In 2003 there was again extensive renovation work in the course of a line closure of the line branch, among other things to renovate the bridges there. The station has been barrier-free since 2018. The construction work included a. the construction of an elevator.
For station Barmbek there are 1,745 meters until Wandsbek-Gartenstadt 1,430 meters.
Connection
At Habichtstraße underground station you can change to Metrobus line 28 and a short distance (approx. 400 m) at the stop “U Habichtstraße (Steilshooper Str.)” To Metrobus line 17, line 177 and night bus line 617. StadtRAD Hamburg has had a station on the opposite side of Habichtstrasse, about 100 m away, since autumn 2015.
