UIC country code
The UIC country code is a code for states, including for rail vehicles .
vehicles
The country of origin of a vehicle is determined with the UIC country code. The code is assigned by the International Union of Railways (UIC) and published in leaflet 920-14. It is part of the unique vehicle number of railway vehicles, which are regulated by OTIF and ERA and apply to Europe and various countries in Asia and North Africa.
When the UIC introduced 12-digit, Europe-wide uniform wagon numbers, the third and fourth digits corresponded to the ownership code . The 50, for example, stood for the GDR. Traditionally, the rule for these numbers was that the second digit must not be larger than the first in order to prevent the numbers from rotating ; With the collapse of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia , however, this became obsolete, since otherwise the numbers are no longer sufficient. From 2006 the vehicle number contained the country code instead of the property code, and the vehicle owner has since been displayed with the vehicle owner identification , a maximum five-digit letter code.
International train station number
The first two digits of the international station number are the same as for a rail vehicle.
