The Suco Uaigae is located to the west of the administrative office of Vemasse.  The place Uaigae is in the west of the Sucos.

Uaigae ( Uai Gae ) is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Vemasse ( municipality of Baucau ). The name is derived from "Waigae" , the Waimaha word for "bitter water".

The place

The place Uaigae, in the west of the Sucos, is the only bigger place in the Suco. It is located on the west bank of the Vemasse River , at an altitude of 244  m . The primary school des Sucos, the Escola Primaria Catolica Uaigae and a medical station are located here.

758 inhabitants live in Uaigae (2015), of which 374 are men and 384 women. The population density is 19.0 inhabitants / km². There are 155 households in the Suco. Over 90% speak the "mountain dialect" of Waimaha , which is one of the Kawaimina languages , as their mother tongue . Just like Kairui and Midiki , who speak of small minorities. Other minorities speak Tetum Prasa , Raklungu and Makuva as their mother tongues .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Uaigae had an area of ​​34.30 km². Now there are 39.83 km². The Suco is to the west of the Vemasse administrative office. In the north, east and south it borders on the Suco Vemasse . To the west is the administrative office of Laleia, which belongs to the municipality of Manatuto, with its sucos Haturalan and Cairui . The Vemasse River crosses the Suco from south to north. The river Bucaloli , which flows along the southern border, and the Robohicdi , which flows along the northern border, flow into it . The latter arises from the confluence of the northern border river Naniale and springing in Suco Uaigae Metaannido . In the Suco lies the 499  m high mountain Uaigae ( 8 ° 34 ′  S , 126 ° 13 ′  E ).

The two Aldeias Lari and Mota are located in the Suco .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Pascoal Faria de Sousa was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Marcos Pereira Soares and was in 2016 re-elected.
