Uailaha (Uai-Laha) is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office Venilale ( municipality of Baucau ).

The place

The place Uailaha is located in the north of the Sucos, at an altitude of 81  m and is part of the settlement center Venilale . The pre-secondary school of sucos, the Escola PreSecundaria Uailaha, is located here .

Uailaha has 2643 inhabitants (2015), of which 1266 are men and 1377 are women. The population density is 220.5 inhabitants / km². There are 446 households in the Suco. About 55% of the population name Kairui as their mother tongue, more than 10% Midiki . Both belong to the Kawaimina languages. In addition, over 20% speak Makasae , over 10% Tetum Prasa and a small minority speak Idalaka .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Uailaha had an area of ​​12.88 km². Now it is 11.99 km². The Suco is located in the south of the Venilale administrative office. To the west is the Suco Fatulia , north of the Suco Uatu Haco , east of the Suco Bado-Ho'o and southeast of the Suco Uai Oli . In the southwest, Uailaha borders on the administrative office of Ossu, which belongs to the municipality of Viqueque, with its Suco Builale . The southern border is followed by the Buihiu river , which belongs to the Seiçal river system .

The overland road between the places Venilale and Ossu follows the border between the Sucos Fatulia and Uailaha. The villages of Sucos are in the north of the Sucos. In the east this is the place Baru and in the northern center Caihurulale ( Kaiburulale ) and Uailaha. All three belong to the Venilale settlement center. In the northeast are the villages of Caubai ( Kaubai , Kuabai ) and Luha Oli ( Luaholi ).

In the Suco there are the four Aldeias Caihurulale de Baixo , Caihurulale de Cima , Caubai and Luha Oli .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Diamantino E. Guterres elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected. In the elections in 2016 won Rafael Guterres .
