Uatu Haco ( Uatu-Haco , Uataco , Watu-Haku ) is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Venilale ( municipality of Baucau ).

Before the 2015 regional reform, Uatu Haco had an area of ​​23.95 km². Now it is 23.81 km². The Suco consists of two separate areas in the center and south-east of the Venilale administrative office. The northern part forms a narrow strip across the administrative office Venilale. To the north are the sucos Baha Mori and Bado-Ho'o , to the south Fatulia , Uailaha and Bado-Ho'o. In the east, Uatu Haco borders on the administrative office of Ossu (municipality of Viqueque ) with its Suco Uaibobo . The second area in the southeast Venilales borders the Suco Uai Oli in the north and is otherwise framed by Ossu with its Sucos Ossu de Cima and Nahareca . The Seiçal River forms the eastern border of both areas.

The overland road from Baucau to Ossu and Viqueque runs through the west of the northern area . It crosses the town of Venilale , the administrative seat of the administrative office. Also in the west are the places Uatu Uasa ( Uatu Assa , Utu Assa ) and Uai-Tali-Bu'u ( Uaitalibu , Uaitalobu ), in the center are the villages Ariana , Luaholi ( Luha Oli , Luhaoli ) and Lia Bala ( Liabala ) and in the east Ossogori . On the northern border of the southern area, the only larger town is the village of Larameta . In addition to the renovated Reino de Venilale school from the colonial era in Venilale, there is a primary school in the west, center and east. There is also a pre-secondary school, heliport and community health center in Venilale.

The four Aldeias Lia Bala , Ossogori , Uai-Tali-Bu'u and Uatu Uasa are located in the Suco .

Residents

The Suco has 2,729 inhabitants (2015), of which 1305 are men and 1424 women. The population density is 114.6 inhabitants / km². There are 462 households in the Suco. Over 40% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. About 30% speak Makasae . In addition, around 15% speak Midiki and a small minority speak Kairui . Both belong to the Kawaimina languages.

In 1990, the Indonesian governor of occupied East Timor, Mário Viegas Carrascalão, and the FALINTIL commander Xanana Gusmão met for the second time in Ariana for peace talks.

On August 8, 2015 in Watu Saha Loi (Aldeia Uai-Tali-Bu'u ), the head of the Konseilu Revolusionariu Maupe (KRM) Mauk Moruk and several of his supporters were captured by the police and army. In the following exchange of fire, Mauk Moruk and two other KRM members died. Several people were also injured, including a police officer.

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Manuel Bento da Silva elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected. In the 2016 elections , Crisotom Correia won .

Personalities

The politician Mário Viegas Carrascalão (1937–2017) was born in Uai-Tali-Bu'u .
