From 1280 to 1782 the village belonged to the Poor Clares in Stary Sącz (Alt Sandez) as the seat of the Strzeszyce--bikowice estates. In 1296 a Roman Catholic parish was established by the Poor Clares. Probably this parish was mentioned twice in the Peterspfennigregister from 1346 to 1358 in the dean's office Sandecz (Neusandez) as Villa Vlrici (after the personal name Oldrzych / Ołdrzych, German Ulrich = Uolrīch). In 1409 it was mentioned as Vyanowycze , later by Jan Długosz ( 1470-1480 ) as Uyanowycze. Villa in se parochial ecclesiam. The name is patronymic, derived from the personal name Ujan . From 1509 to 1526 today's brick church was built. In 1596 there was a parish school there.
Politically, the place was initially part of the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Szczyrzyc District. After the First Partition of Poland, Ujanowice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804). From 1855 the village belonged to the Limanowa District .
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Ujanowice became part of Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it was part of the Krakow district in the Generalgouvernement .
