Uli Kümpfel

Ulrich "Uli" Kümpfel ( pseudonym : One Tongue ; born September 22, 1957 in Munich ) is a German musician and film composer . He plays the instruments cello , banjo , guitar , mandolin , dobro and piano , among others .

Life

Uli Kümpfel is a son of the journalist and film critic Ilse Kümpfel-Schliekmann alias Ponkie . From 1979 he studied musicology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and completed a guitar course at the Munich Jazz School .

From 1987 to 1990 he accompanied the pop singers Nicki and Nicole on their tours as bassist .

Uli Kümpfel has been composing film music since 1991, partly in collaboration with his younger brother Harald or the German-American musician Joe Mubare ; Among other things, he wrote soundtracks for more than 20 episodes of the television series Der Bulle von Tölz and for several episodes from the television series Tatort .

Since 2005 Kümpfel has played in the rock band Dr. Will & The Wizards and the Veterinary Street Jazz Band .
