Ulrich Burchardt
Ulrich "Uli" Burchardt (born February 1, 1971 in Konstanz ) is a German management consultant and politician ( CDU ). He has been Lord Mayor of the city of Konstanz since September 10, 2012 .
Life
Ulrich Burchardt, son of the historian Lothar Burchardt , attended the Heinrich-Suso-Gymnasium in Constance from 1984 to 1989 . After training as a farmer , he obtained the general technical college entrance qualification at the Mettnau School in Radolfzell in 1992. After doing community service at the Fraunhofer Institute for Atmospheric Environmental Research (IFU) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he studied forestry at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences , where he was most recently student representative. In 1997 Burchardt graduated as a qualified forest engineer (FH) . From 1997 he worked for the retail and mail order company Manufactum Hoof & Partner KG and Manufactum Magazin GmbH, where he moved up to the management two years later . In 2005 he started his own business as a management consultant for strategic marketing . Until he was sworn in as Lord Mayor of the city of Konstanz, he held a teaching position at the Konstanz University of Technology, Economics and Design .

politics
Burchardt is a member of the CDU and belongs to the party's regional economic council . He has been a member of the Attac alliance since 2011 .
In 2012 he ran for the election of Lord Mayor of the city of Konstanz as an independent candidate, but supported by well-known local politicians from the CDU and the Free Voters. In the first ballot, he achieved the second-best result with 25.9 percent. Two weeks later he received the most votes with 39.1 percent; his competitors Sabine Reiser (also CDU) and Sabine Seeliger ( Greens ) received 31.9 and 27.6 percent respectively. Burchardt took office on September 10, 2012. He replaced Horst Frank (Greens), who had not run for re-election after 16 years in office.
In May 2019, Konstanz became the first city in Germany to declare a climate emergency .
The next mayoral election will take place on September 27, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Baden-Württemberg , it has been postponed to this date. Burchardt is running.
