Ulrich Meyer (born May 20, 1903 in Lucerne , † April 20, 1987 in Zollikon ; legal resident in Lucerne, since 1955 in Zollikon) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

Life

Ulrich Meyer was born on May 20, 1903 in Lucerne as the son of the fur trader Ulrich Meyer Senior and Barbara Ursula née Sigrist. Meyer initially obtained a commercial school diploma and the Matura in Lausanne . As a result, he was the owner of an installation business for sanitary systems and heating in Zurich , which he took over from his father-in-law.

From 1941 to 1951 he also served as President of the Swiss Association of Master Plumbers and Installers, and from 1951 to 1968 in the same position, later as Honorary President of the Swiss Trade Association . He also served as President of the Board of Trustees of the Swiss National Science Foundation from 1971 to 1974 . Meyer was also a member of the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank and the Board of Directors of SUVA .

In 1928 he married Betty Araceli, the daughter of Johann Jakob Boller from Zurich. Ulrich Meyer died on April 20, 1987, one month before the age of 84 in Zollikon. His son Ulrich made a name for himself as a conductor .

Ulrich Meyer represented the Zurich FDP in the National Council from 1955 to 1971 . Among other things, he worked as president of the national council commission for the 7th AHV revision. The main focus of his activity was commercial and social policy .
