Jean-François Rime (born June 28, 1950 in Friborg ; entitled to live in Val-de-Charmey ) is a Swiss entrepreneur , association official and politician ( SVP ). From 2003 to 2019 he was a member of the National Council . He has been President of the Swiss Trade Association since 2012 .

Life

Jean-François Rime was a member of the Bulle municipal council from June 1989 to February 1991 . In 2002 he changed party affiliation from the FDP to the SVP, for which he was elected to the National Council in the 2003 parliamentary elections , where he remained until he was voted out in 2019 . From December 1, 2003 to December 2, 2007 he was a member of the National Council's Commission for Economy and Taxes . From December 3, 2007 to October 3, 2008 he was in the special commission for legislative planning 2007-2011 and from December 3, 2007 to March 1, 2009 in the commission for transport and telecommunications . Most recently he was President of the Commission for Economy and Taxes .

Rime was nominated by the parliamentary group of the Swiss People's Party of the Federal Assembly for the Federal Council elections on September 22, 2010 and again for the Federal Council elections on December 14, 2011 .

Rime is an entrepreneur; he owns a sawmill . From 2008 to May 2015 he was President of the Swiss Wood Industry Association (HIS). Since May 2012 he has been President of the Swiss Trade Association . After being voted out of office in the 2019 National Council elections, he announced that he would no longer take part in the trade association's renewal elections in May 2020.

Rime lives in Bulle, is married and has three children. In the Swiss army , he was a soldier of the cavalry .
