The Untereck area is a protected forest (protected area number 100027) near Albstadt in the south of the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, which was designated by the Tübingen Forestry Directorate on January 27, 2010 .

In Baden-Württemberg, forest reserves are total reserves in which any use is prohibited by ordinance. In other countries in Germany, the total reserves are known as natural forest reserve , natural forest parcel , natural forest cell or natural forest . Forests are used for scientific research into natural processes in forests. Due to their wealth of structure and dead wood, ban forests are retreats for many endangered animal, plant and fungus species.
location
The approximately 86 hectare Bannwald Untereck , which belongs to the natural areas of the Hohe Schwabenalb and Südwestliches Albvorland, is located around two kilometers southwest of the Albstadt district of Laufen an der Eyach , in the middle of the "Balinger Mountains" and is part of the steep slope of the Südwestalb , the so-called Alb eaves .
Protection purpose
The main protective purpose is to ensure the uninfluenced, spontaneous development of the forest, represented here by the forest communities of the beech-fir and elm-maple forests in connection with ash-maple canyon and log forests, with its animal and plant species .
Another protection purpose is the contribution to the preservation of biological diversity in Europe : The protected forest is part of the protected area " Eastern Great Heuberg " (protected area identifier DE-7819-341) designated according to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive ) , the protection of birds " south western and Upper Danube " (DE-7820-441), the nature reserve " Untereck " (4,021) and the protected landscape " Albstadt- Bitz " (4.17.001).
