Until the end of 2014, Unterfladnitz was a municipality with 1575 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) in the Weiz district in the Austrian state of Styria . As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , it was merged with the municipalities of Etzersdorf-Rollsdorf and Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab on January 1, 2015 , the new municipality continues the name of the Marktgemeinde Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

Unterfladnitz is located in Eastern Styria. The district is about five kilometers from Weiz, the district capital. The Weizbach and the Fladnitzbach flow through the place.

The municipality comprised the following six localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020)

  • Neudorf near Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab (315)
  • Unterfladnitz (312)
  • Wollsdorf (495)

The community part consists of the six cadastral communities Arndorf, Dietmannsdorf, Kühwiesen, Neudorf bei St. Ruprecht, Unterfladnitz and Wollsdorf.

Incorporations

The communities of Arndorf bei Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab, Neudorf bei Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab and Unterfladnitz, which were established in 1850, were merged to form the Unterfladnitz community on January 1, 1952. On January 1, 1969, the communities Kühwiesen and Unterfladnitz were merged to form the community Unterfladnitz. The former municipality of Kühwiesen emerged from the union of the municipalities of Wollsdorf and Kühwiesen, which were also created in 1850, in 1951.

On January 1, 2015, the municipality merged with the neighboring town of Etzersdorf-Rollsdorf with the market town of Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform.

history

The founder and namesake of Arndorf was the Bavarian Count Palatine Aribo II († 1026; around 1171 the settlement occurred as Arberdorf, also: Erbendorf). Unterfladnitz was first mentioned in a document in 1265 as "Fletnytz". Unterfladnitz Castle was built by the Fladnitz people in the middle of the 14th century and destroyed by a storm on July 26, 1724.

Economy and Infrastructure

Kindergarten, elementary school and secondary school are located in Sankt Ruprecht . The community part is dominated by agriculture. Fruit growing and field vegetables play a major role.

Wollsdorf Leder , European finalist for “Tannery of the Year 2014” tans and processes leather, especially for the automotive industry, and in Wollsdorf - until 2015 - it employs 550 people out of 1000 worldwide.

traffic

Unterfladnitz is accessible on the one hand via the Rechberg Straße B 64 and on the other hand with a station of the Gleisdorf – Weiz regional railway. The state railways offer hourly train connections in the direction of Weiz and Gleisdorf as well as some direct trains to Graz.

There is also a small airfield of the ASKÖ Flugsportklub Weiz in Unterfladnitz.
