Untereurode is a district of the market town of Philippsthal (Werra) in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse .

The village is located northwest of Philippsthal on the Starkelsbach. The federal highway 62 runs through the village .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1329 as Nuwerode . At that time the place belonged to the Kreuzburg monastery in today's Philippsthal. The Starkelsbach formed the border to the Hessian office Friedewald , to which Oberneurode belonged.

On August 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the previously independent community of Unterneurode was merged with five other places to form the new community of Philippstal.
