Urmitzer Werth has been a nature reserve in Neuwied in the Neuwied district in Rhineland-Palatinate since 1957 . The 69.22 hectare area is located north of Urmitz, west of the Urmitz Rhine Bridge . It includes the Rhine island of the same name and wet meadows near the banks with the Engerser Rheinarm as a habitat for rare animal species, especially endangered bird species. When the tide is low, the island can be reached from the right bank of the Rhine with dry feet.
