Ute Verhoolen

Ute Verhoolen (born February 2, 1948 in Gernsbach ; † November 13, 2013 there ) was a German journalist , presenter and TV announcer for Südwestfunk and ARD .

Life

After stays abroad in Great Britain and France , Verhoolen applied to Südwestfunk (SWF) in Baden-Baden in the mid-1960s . In 1966 she started there as a volunteer in the music department . At the beginning of the 1970s, she completed a newspaper traineeship in Düsseldorf ; then she worked for a specialist medical publisher in Frankfurt am Main .

In 1974 she went back to Südwestfunk; initially she worked as an announcer and program presenter. In 1975 she was part of the founding team of moderators for the radio station SWF3 , the SWF's pop wave. On the radio program SWF1 she presented the show Leichte Brise aus Südwest . For the television programs Abendschau and Landesschau , she was also temporarily engaged as a reporter .

In the 1980s and 1990s Ute Verhoolen was a regular announcer, mainly in the evening program. Along with Sigi Harreis , she was one of the most famous announcers and faces on Südwestfunk. Her trademarks were her "natural charm, with a dash of exoticism and a bewitching mischievous smile." In 1998 her contract with the SWF ended. She then worked as a consultant at her husband's event and media consulting agency in Baden-Baden.

Verhoolen was a writer of television features . Occasionally she also worked as an actress , cabaret artist and radio play speaker , for example in the Aeneis von Virgil , a radio play production by Südwestfunk from 1982, or for the radio play series People Who Changed the World ; there she spoke the portrait of Sir Alexander Fleming . She also acted as a moderator of gala events (including CasinoTreff-Rendezvous Baden-Baden) and television shows. In August 1991 she was a guest on the ZDF quiz program Die Pyramid . In January 1996 she was a member of the jury for the Miss Germany election at the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin , and she was also a juror for the Baden-Baden Gala Spa Awards .

Verhoolen was married to the event manager Joachim Heiermann (* 1943), the former head of events and programs at the Baden-Baden spa and spa administration, for 26 years until her death . She lived in her place of birth, Gernsbach near Baden-Baden.
