Václavice (German Wenceslas Mountain ) is a district of the municipality Provodov-Šonov in Okres Náchod in the Czech Republic.
geography
Václavice is about five kilometers southwest of Náchod. Neighboring towns are Vysokov in the north, Staré Město nad Metují in the northeast, Nové Město nad Metují in the southeast and Česká Skalice in the west. The 450.8 m high Branka rises to the east.
history
Václavice, whose territory along with the market Provodov the Břevnov Monastery was one, built in the 18th century under the in the Hussite wars destroyed Dobenín that had belonged to East Bohemia's oldest settlements. The parish church of St. Wenceslas, which was also destroyed in the Hussite Wars, was repaired in 1568 and later became a subsidiary church of the parish church of Nové Město nad Metují.
Václavice was founded by Rudolph Joseph von Colloredo , who in 1786 acquired parcels of the church property under emphyteutic law . Among the 86 inhabitants counted in 1836, who lived in 13 houses, was a Protestant family. After patrimonial was replaced, Václavice became an independent municipality, which from 1850 belonged to the Neustadt an der Mettau district . During the German War of 1866 there were battles between Václavice and Vysokov in the Battle of Nachod . In 1876 Václavice received a stop on the Choceň – Meziměstí railway and on the Václavice – Starkoč railway . In 1899 it was incorporated into the newly formed Náchod district. Since 1985 it has belonged to the Provodov-Šonov municipality. In 1991 Václavice had 58 inhabitants. In the 2001 census, the place consisted of 24 houses in which 68 people lived. There are a total of 31 addresses in Václavice.
