Valderice is a municipality in the Free Municipal Consortium Trapani in the region of Sicily in Italy with 11,852 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Valderice is 11 km east of Trapani . The inhabitants live from agriculture and marble processing on an area of ​​52 km² .

The neighboring municipalities are Buseto Palizzolo , Custonaci and Erice .

history

The village was part of Erice . In 1955 the community declared itself independent. Until 1958 the place was called Paparelle San Marco. The name Paparelle can still be found on maps today. From here you get to Erice on a road with many switchbacks.

Attractions

The parish church dates back to 1950. The Tonnara di Bonagia , the old tuna fishing ground that is no longer used , is on the coast.
