The river cruise ships of the Valerian-Kuybyshev class (Russian Валериан Куйбышев , Ger. Valerian Kuibyshev), which were also known as "Project 92-016 / OL400" (for 400 passengers), are the largest river and canal inland passenger motor ships in the Soviet Union . The class is named after the Soviet politician Valerian Kuibyshev .

history

The series of river cruise ships was built from 1976 to 1983 at the Narodny Podnik Škoda shipyard in Komárno in Czechoslovakia (today: Slovakia ) for the Volga shipping company . All nine ships were used on the Neva, Volga and Kama from Saint Petersburg to Perm or Volgograd . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , both the ships and the shipping company became the property of Russian private companies. Since March 2012, all ships in the Valerian Kuybyshev class have belonged to the Vodohod .

technology

All ships have now been completely modernized and adapted to today's requirements. The number of passenger seats has been reduced considerably from 400. The ships have a diesel-electric drive with three Soviet four-stroke main engines, each with 736 kW and a total output of 3,000 hp.

Despite the fact that all cabins of the ship were equipped with washing facilities and toilets during the construction, the ships of this project did not even come close to the standard of the vehicles built in the GDR by VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg / Roßlau , from the comfort of the Österreichische Schiffswerften AG Linz Korneuburg (ÖSWAG) built, these could not be compared.
