Verena Stuffer (born June 23, 1984 in Bozen ) is a former Italian ski racer . The South Tyrolean specialized in the fast downhill and Super-G disciplines.

biography

Stuffer first took part in FIS races and the Italian championships in the winter of 1999/2000 . The first starts in the European Cup followed in the next winter . After she was on the podium for the first time in an FIS race in January 2002, she won her first points in the European Cup three weeks later with 25th place in the downhill from Tarvisio . After first top 10 results at the beginning of 2005, she celebrated her first victory in the European Cup on December 13, 2005 in the giant slalom in Alleghe . At the Junior World Championships , in which she participated in 2002 and 2004 , her best result was eleventh place in the 2002 downhill.

In the World Cup , Stuffer was used sporadically from January 2003. She won her first World Cup points in February 2005 with place 25 in the combination of San Sicario . Since the 2007/08 season she has competed regularly in the World Cup. Having never finished in the top 20 before, she achieved her first top 10 result on February 2, 2008, finishing eighth in the St. Moritz Downhill . Another top 10 result was achieved by Stuffer, who has been concentrating exclusively on the Downhill and Super-G disciplines since winter 2008/2009, in December 2010 with tenth place in the Downhill from Val-d'Isère . In February 2009, Stuffer took part in a world championship for the first time in Val-d'Isère and finished 23rd in the downhill. Two years later she was 27th in this discipline at the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . Stuffer's best World Cup result is fourth place in the Super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo on January 26, 2014.

In the 2015/16 World Cup season , Stuffer finished in the top 10 three times, and twice in the 2016/17 World Cup season . She could not qualify for the 2018 Winter Olympics and contested her last World Cup race on March 3, 2018 with the Super-G in Crans-Montana .
