Vestermarie Kirke

Vestermarie Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the Danish island of Bornholm . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Bornholms Vester Herred in what was then Bornholms Amt , then with the discontinuation of the Harden structure to Åkirkeby Kommune in the unchanged Bornholms Amt, which in turn became part of Bornholms Regional Commune in January 2003 . The Regional Municipality was initially - as Copenhagen and Frederiksberg - amt free, so reports directly to the State, and then with the municipal reform on 1 January 2007 of the Capital Region assigned.

1331 inhabitants live in the parish, 250 of them in the parish village of Vestermarie (as of January 1, 2020). In the parish is the church "Vestermarie Kirke". Its name describes it as the western of the two Marienkirchen on Bornholm to distinguish it from the Østermarie Kirke . The present church was built in 1885 to replace a Romanesque building that was demolished in 1880 .

Neighboring communities are Nylarsker Sogn and Knudsker Sogn in the west, Nyker Sogn in the north-west, Klemensker Sogn and Østerlarsker Sogn in the north, Østermarie Sogn in the east and Aaker Sogn in the south .
