Victor Reinshagen

Victor Reinshagen (born May 22, 1908 in Riga , Latvia ; † November 14, 1992 in Zurich , Switzerland ) was a Swiss conductor and composer .

Live and act

Victor Reinshagen came to Zurich at the age of six and attended school and the music academy there . He then studied in Berlin at the University of Music and Performing Arts .

In 1927 he became choir director and second conductor at the Städtebundtheater Biel-Solothurn . In 1928 he conducted the opera The Flying Dutchman as a guest at the Stadttheater / Opernhaus Zürich ; In 1929 he became a conductor there. From 1942 to 1955 he was the chief conductor; In 1973 he retired.

Important conductors included Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin (1945, German-language premiere), Niobe by Heinrich Sutermeister (1946, world premiere), The Rake's Progress by Igor Stravinsky (1951, German-language premiere), Cardillac by Paul Hindemith (1952, world premiere of New version), The adventures of the king Pausole by Arthur Honegger (1953, Swiss premiere) and The late atonement by Armin Schibler based on the ballad Feet in Fire (1955, world premiere).

Victor Reinshagen conducted as a guest from 1935 to 1938 and from 1950 the Beromünster Radio Orchestra , from 1950 at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and from 1963 to 1968 at the Opéra de Marseille . From 1968 to 1973 he was director of the artistic office of the Hamburg State Opera .

    In 1941 Hermann Hermecke published an "aryanizing" arrangement under the title Princess Grete , which was premiered on December 31, 1943 at the "Reichsgautheater Innsbruck" (then the name of the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck ).
