The Viega Group is an internationally active family company in the field of sanitary and heating technology with 4,400 employees worldwide, including more than 150 trainees in 17 occupations. The headquarters of the administration of Viega Holding GmbH & Co. KG is Attendorn . The US subsidiary Viega LLC is based in Broomfield (Colorado) . Production takes place in the plants in Lennestadt-Elspe , Attendorn-Ennest , in Großheringen in Thuringia , in Niederwinkling in Bavaria and in McPherson (Kansas, USA). The Viega Group includes Oblamatik AG in Chur , Switzerland. Viega is also involved in the Jiangsu Jinyang Viega Plumbing Systems Co., Ltd. joint venture. ( Wuxi , China) involved.

history

Franz-Anselm Viegener founded the company in Attendorn in 1899. First he sold brass beer taps. Customers were breweries and restaurants. In 1910 the manufacture of products for sanitary and heating installation began. The first branch in Lennestadt-Elspe went into operation in 1963. In 1988, the company invested in an efficient gunmetal foundry at the Attendorn-Ennest location. In 1992 the opening of a production facility in Großheringen followed, in 2004 the purchase of the metal works Otto Dingerkus, Attendorn, and in 2006 the takeover of the Vanguard group in the USA. In the same year a new manufacturing center was opened at the Attendorn-Ennest location. In 2007 the company took over gabo Systemtechnik GmbH in Niederwinkling. In 2009 a new production facility was built in Niederwinkling. In the same year, the company opened a new plant in McPherson, Kansas. Oblamatik AG Chur, Switzerland, has been part of the group since 2011. In 2013 Viega participated in the establishment of the Jiangsu Jinyang Viega Plumbing Systems Co., Ltd. joint venture. in Wuxi, China. In Wuxi, stainless steel piping systems are manufactured for the Chinese market.

Products

The Viega product range consists of over 17,000 products from the product areas of sanitary and heating systems , piping systems , connection technology , pre-wall technology and drainage technology . According to its own information, the company is the world market leader in press connection technology . In 1995 Viega was the first manufacturer to bring press connection technology for copper onto the market. The company now offers press connectors made of various materials such as copper, gunmetal, stainless steel and steel for various media (e.g. drinking water, heating water, gas, compressed air, media containing oil or cooling water). These are installed in buildings, in production facilities, in ships and also in the ground for laying supply lines and sold under the brands Profipress, Megapress, Prestabo, Sanpress, Sanpress Inox, Raxofix and Geopress. The range also includes systems for surface heating for floors and walls. The company produces various pre-wall elements for wet and dry construction for the installation of toilets , bidets and urinals . In the drainage technology product area, the focus is on drains for bathtubs and shower trays, washbasins and bidets, sinks and sinks, toilets and urinals as well as shower channels, bathroom and floor drains.

EU proceedings for illegal price fixing

In September 2006, the EU Commission fined 30 copper processing companies in the copper fittings product area for illegal price fixing. The Commission found that from 1988 to 2004 Viega was involved in an illegal business cartel relating to price fixing, discount agreements and the setting of lower price limits. In addition, customers were split up and important and confidential business information was exchanged. The fine imposed on Viega amounted to 54.292 million euros.
