Villefranche (formerly: Villefranche-Saint-Phal ) is a commune Déléguée in the French commune of Charny Orée de Puisaye with 606 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . From 1996 to 2014 Villefranche was part of the Communauté de communes de la Région de Charny .

Villefranche became on January 1, 2016 with 13 other municipalities, namely Chambeugle , Charny , Chêne-Arnoult , Chevillon , Dicy , Fontenouilles , Grandchamp , Malicorne , Marchais-Beton , Perreux , Prunoy , Saint-Denis-sur-Ouanne , Saint-Martin -sur-Ouanne merged to form the Commune nouvelle Charny Orée de Puisaye. The municipality of Villefranche was part of the Auxerre arrondissement and the Charny canton .
