Vital Julian Frey (born January 26, 1979 in Geneva ) is a Swiss harpsichordist .

biography

Vital Julian Frey was born in Geneva in 1979. He received his first harpsichord lessons at the age of eight. He later studied at the Freiburg University of Music and at the Munich University of Music and Theater with Robert Hill and Christine Schornsheim . He passed the concert and soloist diplomas there.

Vital Julian Frey gives concerts as a soloist with orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony , the Leipzig Concert and Capriccio Basel , and gives commentary on children's concerts and solo recitals in the context of internationally known concert series and festivals. Among these are Menuhin Festival Gstaad , Bach Festival Leipzig , Lucerne Festival , MDR Music Summer , Bratislava Music Festival, Murten Classics, Thun Castle Concerts , Bamberg Residence Festival and Thuringian Bach Weeks . As a chamber musician , he works with Kristin von der Goltz , Maurice Steger , Sabrina Frey , Christine Schornsheim , Fiorenza de Donatis , Sergio Azzolini and Jörg-Andreas Bötticher , among others . In his project "Experiencia Flamenca" Vital Julian Frey plays the first flamenco suite for harpsichord, which he had composed by the flamenco guitarist Michio .

Vital Julian Frey has made several radio recordings, including on Radio DRS2 , Radio Suisse Romande , Saarländischer Rundfunk , SWR 2 , BBC , France Musique , Radio Madrid and Bayerischer Rundfunk . As one of his numerous awards, he received the "Diploma di Merito" from the Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena in 2002 .

Vital Julian Frey plays most of the concerts on his two-manual French harpsichord by Andrew Garlick, which was built after a model by Jean-Claude Goujon (1749).
