Vladimír Filo (born January 15, 1940 in Gáň ; † August 18, 2015 in Nitra ) was a Slovak clergyman and bishop of Rožňava .

Life

Vladimír Filo was ordained a priest on July 25, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 17, 1990 titular bishop of Thucca in Mauretania and auxiliary bishop in Trnava . The Archbishop of Trnava, Ján Sokol , ordained him as a bishop on April 16 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Cardinal Ján Chryzostom Korec SJ , Bishop of Nitra , and František Tondra , Bishop of Spiš . As a motto he chose Mihi vivere Christ est .

On November 23, 2002 he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Rožňava . With the retirement Eduard Kojnoks he followed him on 27 December 2008 as the bishop of Rožňava gradually been introduced into the office on January 28 of next year.

On March 21, 2015, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
