Eastern Karwendelspitze (left) and Vogelkarspitze (right) from the Tölzer Hütte |
The Vogelkarspitze is 2522 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Karwendel on the border between Bavaria and Tyrol . It is the second highest peak in the northern Karwendel range . The first ascent was made by Hermann von Barth on July 4, 1870.
The summit can be reached in 2.5 hours from the Karwendelhaus ( 1771 m above sea level ) on a mountain tour that is partially pathless and requires Alpine experience . A somewhat difficult to find alley through a dense pine belt provides access to the foot of the bird cart . The unmarked ascent continues over the partly grassy, partly rocky south ridge to the summit. Occasionally, there are small rock ledges in difficulty I (UIAA) . The path is technically easy to walk, but due to its steepness it is not without risk, especially when wet.
The total walking time from the next valley locations is 7 hours from Scharnitz or 6 hours from Hinterriß over the Kleiner Ahornboden . Therefore, a two-day tour with an overnight stay in the Karwendelhaus or the journey by mountain bike is usually preferred.
