Vois is a small scattered settlement in the municipality of Schwarzau in the mountains in Lower Austria .

The Vois denotes the area and is also the name of the village. This is located northeast of the Schwarza , halfway to Klostertaler Gscheid .

history

The settlement probably took place between 1030 and 1050. Numerous field and farm names refer to the clearing and reclamation of the valley in the Middle Ages. During this time the Lords of Traisma also settled in the Vois area. Then the area came to the Babenbergs and the Habsburgs, until it later went to the Herberstein and then to the Hoyos , who came from Spain . The population lived mainly from the timber industry, exported saw wood and charcoal, but also produced secondary products such as wooden ladders, wooden tubs and wine sticks, which were exported to Hungary. Lime was also mined and processed into quicklime. The mining of hard coal, iron ore and clay was less successful.
