The Volcán de Tindaya is a RoPax - ferry of the shipping company Naviera Armas . It has been in service since June 2003 between Playa Blanca on Lanzarote and Corralejo on Fuerteventura .

General

The ship with hull number 1617 was built by the Spanish shipyard Hijos de J. Barreras in Vigo and delivered in 2003. The Volcán de Tindaya is named after an extinct volcano on Fuerteventura. The drive consists of two marine diesel engines of the type Wärtsilä 6L26, which act with 5200 kW on two controllable pitch propellers. With a service speed of 17 knots, the crossing takes about half an hour.

The Volcán de Tindaya is designed for 700 passengers and up to 120 passenger cars . The continuous vehicle deck is loaded or unloaded via a bow visor and two stern ramps .
