The type Volharding 750 TEU is a type of container ship from the Dutch shipyard Volharding Shipyards.

history

The ships were built from 2002 to 2005 at the Volharding Shipyards yard. The hulls were supplied by the Romanian shipyard Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries. Initially three ships were built for the Dutch shipping company JR Shipping in Rhoon . The construction costs amounted to around 50 million euros. Two more ships were built for the Unitas shipping company in Haren (Ems) and three more ships for Beluga Shipping in Bremen . JR Shipping later exercised the contractually agreed option on a further three ships of the type.

The ships built for Beluga Shipping were sold to the shipping company Heino Winter as a result of the company's insolvency in 2011. In February 2014 the HS Bereederungsgesellschaft took over the ships. In 2016, all three ships at Huarun Dadong Dockyard in Shanghai were extended by 30 meters. The measurement of the ships increased to 9755 GT / 4909 NRZ, the carrying capacity to 13,500 t and the container capacity to 1025  TEU .

description

The ships are from a four-stroke - eight-cylinder - diesel engine of the manufacturer Caterpillar : (Type MaK 7200 8M43)  kW power driven. The motor acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction gear . The speed is given as 18  kn . The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with an output of 650 kW.

A Stamford shaft generator with 1,150 kW output is available for power generation, which is driven by the main engine via an output shaft . There are also two Stamford generators available, each driven by a Scania diesel engine with an output of 350 kW. Furthermore, a diesel generator with 350 kW output was available as an emergency and harbor generator.

The ships have three holds in which two 40-foot containers can be loaded one behind the other. Four layers can be stowed in room 1 and three layers in each of rooms 2 and 3. On deck three layers can be stowed on hatch 1, four or five layers on hatch 2 and five layers on hatch 3. There are additional parking spaces on deck in front of the deckhouse . Six layers can be stowed on top of each other here. If 20-foot containers are loaded, the rear of the two stacks can be seven layers high.

Eight containers can be loaded side by side on deck. In the foremost bay and in the lowest tier of the parking spaces directly in front of the deckhouse, there is space for six containers side by side. There is space for up to seven containers side by side in the holds. The capacity is reduced here forward and aft due to the tapered cargo holds. The cargo holds equipped with Cellguides are closed with hydraulically operated folding hatch covers.

The container capacity is 750 TEU. 225 TEU can be found in the room, 525 on deck. If 40-foot containers are loaded, there is space for 356 FEU and 22 TEU on board. With homogeneous loading with 14 t heavy containers, 511 TEU can be loaded. There are connections for 100 refrigerated containers. The ships can load 20-, 30-, 40-, 45- and 49-foot containers.

The area of the back is covered for weather protection, behind is in front of the holds a breakwater to protect against green water.

The deckhouse is far aft. It can accommodate 14 crew members. The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice .
