Volker Meyer-Dabisch

Volker Meyer-Dabisch (born June 29, 1962 in Kamen ) is a German actor and director.

life and career

After Meyer-Dabisch graduated from high school in Hamm in 1981 , he completed an acting training in Berlin between 1985 and 1988, which was followed by engagements in Zittau and Schwäbisch Hall . Meyer-Dabisch then worked at the Zerbbreche Fenster theater , where he staged the 2003 hip-hop piece "36 Street", the biography of a gang member of the 36 Juniors , Ayhan Sönmez, accompanied by beatboxer Bee Low and the Turkish rapper Fuat . In 2003 he also staged the beatbox musical "Coal Coal" with Oktay Özdemir , Hülya Duyar , Aykut Kayacık , Heinrich Rolfing and the beatboxers of the 4xsample crew, Mando, Chlorophil and Wetlipz, about a family who runs a coal shop in Kreuzberg .

With the beatboxing championship in 2007, the shooting of the documentary Love, Peace & Beatbox , which portrays the Berlin beatboxing scene , began. Love, Peace and Beatbox , premiered at the Berlinale 2008 , won the “Best Music Film” award at the Unerhört Festival in Hamburg and the audience award at the Lünen Film Festival .

The documentary “Der Adel vom Görli” followed in 2010 and “Open Souls” in 2011. In his film Der Adel vom Görli , Meyer-Dabisch portrays the former railway site Görlitzer Park , a local recreation area for residents and visitors. The film was shown in the Moviemento cinema in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In Open Souls , the director deals with so-called mixed race children.

In addition to his work as a film director, Volker Meyer-Dabisch has worked as an actor in cinema and television productions and as a caveman since 2003, and as a superdaddy since 2010.

Meyer-Dabisch has also been working as a radio host at multicult.fm since 2012 .

He lives in Berlin-Kreuzberg .
