Volker Weininger (born January 22, 1971 in Waldbröl ) is a German cabaret artist , author and handcrafted speaker .

Life

Volker Weininger grew up in Windeck - Schladern ( Rhein-Sieg district ), graduated from the Bodelschwingh High School in Herchen in 1990 and then studied German and English to become a teacher at the University of Bonn . He worked for several years as a lecturer for German as a foreign language at various universities in the Rhineland.

In 2008 he made his debut with his first solo cabaret program Bestatten: Weininger! . In 2012, the premiere of the second program "Your Mustard in My Life" followed, which has won multiple awards. Education premiered in September 2015 . Power. School. (Alternative title since 2017: The School Fairy Tale Report ), a program that takes a critical look at the education system.

In addition to his cabaret career, Volker Weininger has also been a speaker at the Cologne Carnival since 2012 in his fictional character The Session President , where he quickly gained popularity. In 2013 he also moderated the opening of the Cologne Carnival on the Heumarkt together with Marita Köllner and Wicky Junggeburth on WDR television and is a regular guest in the TV sessions of ARD and ZDF . Since the spring of 2019 Weininger has appeared almost exclusively outside of the carnival as The President of the Session and dedicated his Solo! its own full-length stage program (premiere in May 2019).

Volker Weininger was one of the co-founders of the alternative carnival session Die Blaue Bütt , which ran from 1998 to 2012 at Café Hahn in Koblenz and which he chaired the entire time as the session president.

In addition to his work on stage, Weininger also works as a writer. He writes u. a. for the WDR television and the Cologne Stunksitzung .

Volker Weininger lives in Bonn , is married and has a son.
