The Volvo 8900 is a city bus that Volvo has been producing since 2011. The body of the 8900 is produced at Carrus in Breslau ( Poland ). In contrast to the other city bus in the Volvo range, the Volvo 7900 , the 8900 is larger and also suitable as an intercity bus . The Volvo 8900 is the successor to the Volvo 8500 and Volvo 8700 .
Technology and dimensions
The Volvo 8900 is available in six different lengths:
- 12 200 mm and
- 13,000 mm each Volvo 8900 with 860 mm floor height and two axles
- 12 000 mm and
- 13,000 mm each as Volvo 8900 LE with 350 mm floor height and two axles
- 13 700 mm and
- 14 700 mm each as Volvo 8900 LE Bogie with 350 mm floor height and three axles
The car body width of all versions is 2550 mm and the height 3300 mm. The Volvo 8900 and 8900 LE are powered by the Volvo D7E diesel engine with 290 hp. The 8900 LE Bogie is also available with the Volvo D9B with 380 hp. The maximum total weight of all versions is between 18,000-25,500 kg, depending on the equipment. Optionally, the buyer can set the height of the entrance doors or have the bus fitted with seat belts .
