The Volvo 9700 is a touring coach with a total of 72 seats that Volvo has been producing in its plants in Turku in Finland , Wrocław in Poland and since 2008 in Tultitlán in Mexico as a successor to the Volvo B10M .

It is based on the modular Volvo TX platform , which allows two lengths, two or three axles and two heights. The Volvo DH12 diesel engine is installed as a rear engine as standard . The output is 250 kW (340 PS), 279 kW (380 PS), 309 kW (420 PS) and 339 kW (460 PS). Optionally, installation as a mid-engine in underfloor construction is possible. This results in better handling and higher loading capacity. The mid-engine version has a load volume of 13–16 m³ and the rear-engine version 10.5–12 m³.

The chassis is made of stainless steel. The braking system includes functions such as electronic brake force distribution , anti-lock braking system , traction control ASR, brake assist , Volvo Engine Brake and Volvo Compact Retarder . The standard equipment includes a refrigerator , TV and video system with two 15-inch screens and CD audio system. Air conditioning is available on request .

The 9700 has been produced in Mexico for the North American market since the end of 2008 . The engine is in this case from the Volvo plant in Hagerstown, Maryland supplied with a Volvo I-Shift automatic transmission coupled, while in Europe and manual transmission are used.

In 2008 the Volvo 9700 received the International Bus and Coach of the Year award .
