The Vomper Bach is a 17 km long left tributary of the Inn in Tyrol .

course

The Vomper Bach has its source in the Karwendel at the Supersonic Pass ( 1912  m above sea level ), which is the watershed between the Isar and the Vomper Bach, and initially flows approximately parallel to the Inn Valley from west to east. In Vomper Loch it changes its direction to the south, flows through a narrow gorge and crosses the village of Vomperbach , which it divides into the communities of Vomp and Terfens . It flows into the Inn to the south of the Vomperbach district .

In the entire course the brook forms the border between the municipality of Vomp in the north and east and the municipalities of Absam , Gnadenwald and Terfens in the south and west.

Water quality

The Vomper Bach in the Vomper Loch is partially covered by rubble and invisible before it flows through a narrow gorge towards the district of Vomperbach, so no grade can be determined up to this point . After that, however, it remains constant at level I, which speaks for a clean water.

hazards

The rubble that covers the creek bed disguise the presence of water flowing underneath and is dangerous because the mass can easily slide. The stream remains raging until the end of the gorge. Shortly before it flows into the Inn , the slope becomes a little flatter.

Power generation

The water of the Vomper brook is used by the Schwaz municipal utilities to generate energy. A water intake is located at the Bollenbach spring below the Ganalm ( 1190  m above sea level ). A second time the stream is drawn further out of the valley, where the Schluchtsteig leaves the gorge towards Gasthaus Karwendelrast . The water is diverted from these two sockets to the upper power station. At this power plant, the water from the stream is collected a third time and fed to the lower power plant. The power plants generate a total of around 9,000 kW.
