Vulcan was a German-speaking rock band founded in East Berlin in 1973 . It disbanded in 1976.
history
The band was formed in 1973 from the Rainer Bloss combo. Founding members were Rainer Bloß (bass guitar, vocals), Alexander Kirfe (flute, saxophone, percussion, vocals), Dieter Ernst (drums), Burkhard Wolk (guitar, vocals), Bernd Roitzsch (keyboard) and Rainer Nawrath (lead vocals). Just, Kirfe, Ernst and Roitzsch had already played together in the Rainer Bloss combo.
Rainer Bloß was later replaced by Wolfram Schäfer, Dieter Ernst by Klaus Scharfschwerdt . In 1974 Vulcan was able to produce five titles on radio in the GDR : Steig auf ein Berg , Anhalter , Not Remember , Feuertraum and The man with the lottery ticket . Recordings for the DDR -Plattenlabel Amiga did not make the band. In 1976 Vulcan disbanded.
Further career
Rainer Bloß became a member of the band Wir in 1977 . In 1978 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany . He later worked with Klaus Schulze . From 1994 until his death in 2015 he was an unofficial member of Alphaville .
Klaus Scharfschwerdt became the drummer of Prinzip and the Puhdys after the dissolution of Vulcan . From then on Rainer Nawrath worked as a singer for Express .
style
Vulcan played melodic rock music based on the American band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young . Some pieces can be assigned to hard rock .
