The Wörsbach is a good one and a half kilometers long left tributary of Odenbaches in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Kaiserslautern in the area of the municipality Otterbach Otter Mountain belong to local community Niederkirchen .

The Wörsbach rises in the Untere Lauterhöhen natural area of the North Palatinate Bergland at an altitude of 313  m above sea level. NHN on the south-eastern edge of the Niederkirchen district of Wörsbach in a green area overgrown with bushes and trees, the corridor in the upper meadows .

It initially flows about 400 meters in an easterly direction south of the houses-lined Olsbrücker Straße ( K 28 ) between the Heidenberg ( 387  m ) on the left, the southern spur of the Bornberg ( 420  m ), and the Wörsbacher Höhe on the right through the grassland of the corridor In the upper meadows . There is a small sewage treatment plant south of a mourning hall . There the stream enters the protected biotope valley of the Wörsbach . It then runs accompanied by thick wood and from Kreisstraße 28 just under 800 meters east-north-east under the right spur of the Eichelsberg ( 369  m ) to the Odenbachtal through a green zone of the corridor In the lower meadows .

The stream then crosses under Landesstraße 382 and finally flows into the Odenbach coming from the south-southeast at a height of 281  m south of the Rauschermühle .

nature and environment

The lower valley of the Wörsbach north of the Eichelsberg belongs to the biotope valley of the Wörsbach (area number: BK-6412-0292-2009). The biotope is around 8.4 hectares in total.

The valley of the Wörsbach with its meadows, hedges, bushes as well as the two seepage springs occurring there is a locally significant and well-structured natural area with valuable plant species.

Plum trees and broken willows grow there, and the herb layer includes the great nettle and the true bindweed . In the vicinity of the swamp springs, the swamp thistle , the pointed-flowered rush and the common forest rush thrive . the Meadowsweet , the White bent grass , the marsh marigold , the marsh sedge that brooklime and Juncus effusus .
