The G of the Königlich Württembergische Staats-Eisenbahnen were tow tenders - locomotives with five coupling axles .

description

These machines caused a sensation in the professional world with their unusual design. They were developed for use on the Filstalbahn from Stuttgart to Geislingen an der Steige . This route had a route with very tight radii . For this reason, the locomotives were given a Klose engine , in which the front and rear axles were connected to the frame and to each other in such a way that they could adapt to the curve radius driven by means of a steering mechanism moved by the tender coupling. The length of the coupling rods was adjusted accordingly using a lever mechanism.

The second axis was driven. The suspension of the machines was attached in two longitudinal planes. The vehicles had a kettle of Belpaire - firebox and an internal Allan- control . The pistons of the low-pressure cylinders were offset from one another by 90 degrees; the crank offset between the low and high pressure cylinders was 135 degrees.

With a trailer load of 680 tons, the locomotive still reached 13 km / h on an incline of ten per thousand. All machines were retired in 1921. The vehicles had type 2 T tenders .
