WSB is an American radio broadcaster based in Atlanta , Georgia . In addition, the transmitter is a clear channel -Station and supplied with a transmitter power of 50 k W Day and night the entire East Coast and the Midwest of the United States. WSB is the oldest radio station in the southern states .

Under the slogan News 95.5 and AM750, WSB , the station broadcasts a news and talk format. WSB-AM is Cox Radio 's flagship medium wave station . Although WSB is licensed for HD radio technology, the station does not currently broadcast an IEOC format.

history

WSB started operations on March 15, 1922 . After the station was one of the first to be licensed in the US in 1922. Before that, the callsign belonged to a ship that sank in 1919. The radio station was founded by the daily newspaper Atlanta Journal . Until the FCC band plan in 1936, the station was transmitting on 740 k Hz . WSB was the fourth radio station in the southern states after WBT in Charlotte , North Carolina ; WNOX in Knoxville , Tennessee and WWL in New Orleans , Louisiana .

Neal Boortz has his liberal talk show on WSB. Cox Radio syndicated the show US-wide.

The callsign stands for “Welcome South, Brother”.
