WW3 (Alternative title: Deadly Virus ) is an American thriller from 2001 . Directed by Robert Mandel , the script was written by Daniel Taplitz .
action
An epidemic breaks out on a cruise ship . The passengers die within 48 hours. A little later, similar cases are reported among spectators at a baseball game . Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Larry Sullivan investigates and suspects a terrorist background. His uncle John Sullivan - who once developed biological weapons - and a doctor help him with the investigation.
Sullivan finds the culprit, whom he follows onto the roof of a building. There he shoots the man who is holding a container with the viruses in his hands. The container falls - despite Sullivan's attempt to hold it - but is picked up undamaged by his colleagues on the floor.
Reviews
Film-Dienst wrote that the film was a "speculative television thriller that reality caught up with just two months after it was broadcast in the USA in the summer of 2001" . In contrast to what its title suggests, it is "not a war film" , "but an indication of the possible triggering cause of future wars" .
The magazine TV Spielfilm 8/2008 described the film as an "attack of deadly boredom" . She mentioned that the film was released in the United States shortly before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks , but that "doesn't make it any better" .
backgrounds
The film was produced as a television movie and first released in the United States on July 13, 2001. It was released direct to video in Argentina in April 2003. The publication in Germany followed on February 19, 2005.
